About Zenified

Hello, I'm James.

Designer, developer and systems builder. Twenty-three years of turning ideas into things that work, now with AI that finally keeps up.

James Williams, founder of Zenified

It started with a machine that wouldn't say hello

In 1983, aged ten, I typed "hello" into a ZX81 and was genuinely disappointed when it didn't answer. 10 PRINT HELLO / 20 GOTO 10 was the next best thing. Forty years later, the computers talk back, and they build things with me. It feels like a childhood promise finally kept.

The path

Two decades of making things work

I took a first-class honours degree in Media Practice at UCLan in 2003, majoring in moving image. Independent filmmaking taught me Final Cut and After Effects, and it taught me something more useful: I loved the edit far more than the camera. Shaping raw material into something coherent is still the job, twenty-odd years on.

From there: web design in the Flash and ActionScript era, then HTML and CSS when Flash died, then PHP and e-commerce. I ran my own creative web agency in Poland from 2009 to 2017, building websites and motion graphics, before returning to the UK to work inside established brands, including Frost, Bronnley and AB World Foods. By then it was less "make us a website" and more third-party integrations, system migrations, automation and bespoke plugins, the plumbing that makes a business actually run.

Along the way I've shipped somewhere between thirty and forty sites for smaller businesses, and co-built a few ventures of my own. During COVID, with the owner of Frost and Mark Prescott, former head chef at Le Gavroche, we turned an idea into Tapas Fusion: Michelin-standard tapas, delivered nationwide. One chef, 120 boxes a week, booked three months ahead, £350k in year one. I built the brand, the online systems, the marketing, and took the photographs. That's the range I bring.

The AI turn

Then the computers started talking back

I'd been experimenting with OpenAI since 2022, but the moment it clicked was mundane: a train ticket refund. The chatbot argued its case, looked at my evidence, changed its mind and paid out. That efficiency floored me, and I went deep.

Today I pair AI with twenty years of knowing what good looks like. The tools have collapsed the distance between an idea and a working product; what used to need an agency team, I now deliver personally, faster and to a higher standard. In 2025 that meant meeting Prospect PS on a Tuesday and showing them a working dashboard by Wednesday. That prototype became a full operations system, and my current role as their Head of Operations & Systems.

The name

Why Zenified?

Most businesses run in a state of low-level chaos. The work, as I see it, is to step aside, look at the whole, and bring some tranquility to it through good systems. That's the zen. It's not a philosophy I practise on a mat, just the idea the work aims at: awareness, clarity, calm operations.

If it lives on the web, I build it here at Zenified. If it needs to run your whole operation, that work lives at QubeOS. Either way, you're talking to the person who does the work.

Need more than a website?

Operations systems live at QubeOS

One coherent platform instead of fragmented tools, owned by you, built around how your business actually works. Same builder, different door.
